Truly I say to you Among them that are born of women there has not risen a greater than John the Baptizer notwithstanding they [invisible women] that are least in the kingdom of heaven are greater than he
Comments: Matthew 11:11 Up until Jesus’ time, the greatest prophet was not the one who did the most and greatest miracles. That rules out Elijah and Elisha, who raised the dead and called fire to come down out of heaven. The greatest prophet was not the one who foretold the most and saw the furthest into the future. That rules out Daniel, Isaiah, and Jeremiah. Jesus said the greatest prophet who ever lived was the one who did no miracle but rather turned souls to God. They who win souls are wise. And by comparison, those who have no standing among mortals but are great soul winners are greater than John.
Greater than John the Baptizer? John was a truly great soul winner. But like the widow’s mite that Jesus said was more than what anyone else had given, in God’s economy, the ratio of what one has been given and what one gives is weighed in the balances, and judgement/reward is based on what one does with what one is given.

Note from the editor: I read my Bible every day, always picking up today where I left off yesterday. I call this my “on-track” Bible reading. I have been doing this for over 44 years. It was the best advice I was ever given, and it changed my life. If you are not presently doing the same, I invite you to join me. How much you read on a daily basis isn’t important. It only matters that you read, feeding your spirit with a prayerful daily dose of the Alive and Powerful Word of God.
