Jesus prayed TWICE about this
Mark 14:35-39
My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death you tarry here and watch And he went forward a little and fell on the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour might pass from him And he said Abba Father all things are possible to you Take away this cup from me Nevertheless not what I will but what thou wilt…And again he went away and prayed and spoke the same words
Comments: Jesus sweated blood as he prayed twice to have this cup pass from him. The Son of Mortals was human in every way—he was not half God and half human like the Nephilim—and he dreaded what was coming as much as any of us would. He really did not want to die by crucifixion. He really did not want to hang on that cross with the sins of the world laid on him and for the first time in his eternal existence, be separated from the Godhead.
My God my God, why have you forsaken me!
Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down their life for a friend.
History records that many people have laid down their lives for friends. Medals of Honor are bestowed on men who gave their lives for friends in battle. People have been known to confess to crimes they never committed, willingly choosing death, embracing execution, all to save loved ones from that fate.
The Romans crucified tens of thousands of people. It was a horrific way to die. It usually took days. Up to 150,000 people were nailed to Roman crosses. 6000 during the Spartacus slave uprising, alone. 500 people a day during the siege of Jerusalem in AD 70. But in the five hundred plus years of Roman history, is it recorded that any innocent person ever chose to take blame and replace anyone else on a cross in the Roman crucifixion?
Jesus did that. And there is a reason why he chose such a horrendous death. Read about it, here, why Jesus had to die on a cross: Why did Jesus have to die on a cross? - by Jocelyn Andersen.

Note from the editor: I read my Bible every day, always picking up today where I left off yesterday. I call this my “on-track” Bible reading. I have been doing this for over 44 years. It was the best advice I was ever given, and it changed my life. If you are not presently doing the same, I invite you to join me. How much you read on a daily basis isn’t important. It only matters that you read, feeding your spirit with a prayerful dose of the living and powerful Word of God.
