1: Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil 2: And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights he was hungry afterward 3: And when the tempter came to him he said If you be the Son of God command that these stones be made bread 4: But he answered and said IT IS WRITTEN humans [invisible women] shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God YAHWEH Deuteronomy 8:3
Comments: Matthew 4:3-4 Though Jesus is the ALMIGHTY in the flesh, and as such immortal, he is also 100% mortal. He confirmed the mortality of his humanity when speaking to the devil and calling himself mortal.
When Jesus spoke to the devil, he did so only within the context of engaging in SPIRITUAL WARFARE—he spoke only the WORD OF GOD—saying only what had already been WRITTEN. We have the same WRITTEN WORD OF GOD today that Jesus had back then, and the rules of engagement have not changed. This does not mean the Spirit of the LORD does not speak directly to our hearts at times. It means the Spirit of the LORD will never speak anything to our hearts that contradicts what has already been WRITTEN Isaiah 8:20-22.

Note from the editor: I read my Bible every day, always picking up today where I left off yesterday. I have been doing this for over 44 years. The posts in this column are usually notes on whatever passage I happen to be reading on any particular day during what I call my “on-track” Bible reading.
