And THE JESUS when he was baptized went up immediately out of the water and look! the heavens were opened to him and he saw THE SPIRIT THE GOD descending like a dove and lighting upon him And lo a voice speaking from out of the heavens “This is MY beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”
Comments: Matthew 3:16-17 What a perfect picture of the Godhead at the baptism of Jesus! The Son in the water. The Holy Spirit descending like a dove and landing on Jesus, … and called “THE GOD” in the text. And the Father speaking from heaven.
The definite article “the,” is present in this passage and in the TR 20,404 times in 63 unique forms. It is sometimes supplied at translator discretion and sometimes omitted: this, that, these, etc. are the only significant renderings other than "the." G3588 - ho - Strong's Greek Lexicon (kjv).
Understanding the Godhead (as much as is finitely possible) is important. Believing that Jesus is THE ALMIGHTY is vital to our faith. Jesus told those who hated him that if they did not believe that he is the I AM (the God of the Burning Bush), they would die in their sins.

Note from the editor: I read my Bible every day, always picking up today where I left off yesterday. I have been doing this for over 44 years. The posts in this column are usually notes on whatever passage I happen to be reading on any particular day during what I call my “on-track” Bible reading.
