And Jesus said to him See that you tell no one [invisible women] but go your way Show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded for a testimony unto them
Comments: Matthew 8:4 Priests were mediators between God and his human creation. Under the Old Covenant, Moses was the first mediator, followed by men from the tribe of Levi (descended from Moses’ brother, Aaron), who were appointed as priests of Yahweh and offered sacrifices for the people. After Jesus’ death and resurrection, that priesthood was done away with, and there remained only one mediator between God and mortals—Jesus, who was the sacrifice that ended all sacrifice. At his resurrection, the priesthood of believers was born 1 Peter 2:5-9.. Today, every believer is their own priest, offering sacrifices of praise to our God. And there is only one High Priest—The man, Christ Jesus, the Captain of our Faith.

Note from the editor: I read my Bible every day, always picking up today where I left off yesterday. This is what I call my “on-track” Bible reading. I have been doing this for over 44 years. The posts in this column are usually notes on whatever passage I happen to be reading on any particular day. If you are not presently doing the same, I invite you to join me, beginning with where I’m at. How much you read on a daily basis isn’t important. It only matters that you read, feeding your spirit with a prayerful daily dose of the Word of God.
